An invitation

In times like these, we need each other.

People are struggling, public services are at breaking point, climate chaos is looming. Most of us do not think the future is going to be rosy — yet our politicians are unable to respond as needed.

It is down to us to plot a different path. We are working on a plan for how to do this: Lifehouse Stroud. This is about building togetherness, resilience and power in our neighbourhoods and on our streets.

Mutual aid, grassroots democracy, and the capacity to act together — to support our neighbours, make collective decisions, and respond when there is a crisis: another pandemic, water shortages, power failures. Central to our vision is a standing Citizens' Assembly for Stroud.

So as well as an invitation to dinner, this is an invitation to join forces — we need to do this with you.

What we are building

Come and help shape our plans — and turn them into action.

Mutual Aid

Street-level networks of neighbours who know, support, and show up for one another — as a matter of course, and in a crisis.

Grassroots Democracy

A standing Citizens' Assembly for Stroud — a space where our community makes real decisions together, with purpose and legitimacy.

Lifehouse Centres

Community hubs in every ward — equipped for food, shelter, water, assembly, and mutual aid. Ready before they are needed.

Building the Team

Over the coming months we will be building a team, honing communications, and reaching out to communities across Stroud.

Piloting Ideas

Testing what works — in real neighbourhoods, with real people. We want to build on the work many of us are already doing.

Common Purpose

We want to do this with you. Bringing together individuals, groups and organisations with shared values and ambition.

Come and enjoy good food and good company.

We will be sharing our ideas and asking for yours. Come and be part of shaping our plans and turning them into action.

If you would like to get more involved — as a donor, coordinator, or simply a neighbour who wants to do something — speak to us tonight.
